Tony has a strong background in business development, entrepreneurship and philanthropy, with a breadth of experience across a wide range of international corporate industries, as well as within the private sector. After graduating with a business degree from Scotland, he established Chiron Group New Zealand in 2016 – an organisation providing excellence in private music education and retail experiences.

Phil has been with Lewis Eady for more than 12 years, working with the accounts/administration. With his wife Nonita of more than 20 years, they have two children who have been through the Lewis Eady Music School. While not at work Phil enjoys the outdoors such as cycling, swimming & hiking; exploring new places with his family and looking after his Flemish Giant rabbits. Phil is also involved with the local and overseas Christian community.
JOHN EADY

Sportsman turned musician turned businessman. John studied at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London with a scholarship and lived the life of a touring musician in Europe for several years before returning to New Zealand. He was involved in several of his own businesses before joining his father at Lewis Eady in 2001 to be the fourth-generation owner of this iconic business.

James established his career around the majestic “King of Instruments” as he proudly heads the piano department at Lewis Eady Steinway NZ. Born in Taiwan and raised in New Zealand, his passion for music and dedication to the piano have shaped his expertise in the industry.
After completing his Master of Music degree at the University of Auckland, James spent his next few years travelling in Asia and UK, gaining valuable experience in both music and business. The international exposure has broadened his perspective and deepened his understanding of the global piano market.
Now, back in New Zealand, James looks forward to assisting you in your search for the perfect piano with the wealth of experience and industry knowledge he has developed throughout the years.
Betsy shie

Completing her Bachelor of Music Studies at the University of Auckland in 2021, Betsy spent more than six years teaching and tutoring piano and music theory. Following her graduation, she relocated to Sydney, where she gained invaluable experience at Steinway Galleries Australia. During her time there, she developed expertise in digital marketing, event management, sales, while also cultivating a profound appreciation and deep understanding of the Steinway & Sons family of pianos.
After a one-year career break in Beijing, Betsy is now eager to bring her expertise to Lewis Eady Steinway New Zealand, with a strong focus on expanding and strengthening its presence across the country.

Music is the cornerstone of Emma's life. Born and raised in China, she embarked on her musical journey by learning the flute at the age of six.
After completing her undergraduate studies in China, she pursued her master's degree at the Conservatoire National de Amiens in France. There, she actively engaged in numerous artistic performances, particularly collaborating with piano accompaniment, which deepened her appreciation for the piano's pivotal role in practice and performance.
Emma recently joined the Chrion Group, bringing with her a wealth of enthusiasm, energy, and expertise. She is dedicated to assisting you in selecting the perfect piano for your needs.
HAWKE TSE

Introducing Hawke, our new piano technician at Lewis Eady Steinway New Zealand. Hawke is a highly skilled piano technician with a BFA in Piano Tuning and Restoration from the Central Conservatory of Music. His extensive experience includes working at Steinway & Sons Asia Pacific Headquarters, where he trained in Hamburg Steinway factory techniques, conducted quality inspections, and mastered Steinway-specific tuning and voicing methods.
Hawke has restored multiple grand pianos, including Steinway & Sons models, to factory standards by sourcing and crafting original-spec parts in collaboration with manufacturers. He has also provided technical support for high-profile events such as the Lang Lang Piano Masterclass and a Piano Marathon Concert, earning Outstanding Behind-the-Scenes Staff Awards for his contributions.
In addition to his technical expertise, Hawke has experience in piano education and tuning instruction. He has trained students in German Steinway tuning theories and developed new voicing methods. His deep understanding of piano mechanics, regulation, and tonal optimization ensures that every Steinway piano is maintained to the highest performance standards.
MICHAEL ASHBY

Michael joined the Lewis Eady family in 2020. His love of pianos sparked at an early age from listening to stories of pianos and pianists from his father, John Ashby, one of the first Steinway technicians in New Zealand.
Michael began his apprenticeship with Steinway technician, David Jenkin in 1991 and established Ashby Pianos in 1999. Michael has worked with Stefan Kühnlein (Germany) and Friedeman Stein (Switzerland) and tuned for the Munich Philharmonic, Gasteig, Herculesaal, and Bayerischer Staatsoper.
Highly in demand, Michael has worked with major venues and arts organisations in New Zealand, including the Wellington Town Hall, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and many more.

ALISSA HUNT

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Alissa holds a degree in Healthcare Management and brings extensive administrative experience. As the first in her family to move abroad, she has embraced the challenge and excitement of starting a new life in Aotearoa New Zealand. With a proven track record in administration and customer service, along with a results-driven approach, Alissa will step into the role of Lewis Eady Music School Manager in 2025. She is eager to foster a love of music and support students on their musical journeys.
In her free time, Alissa enjoys exploring New Zealand’s scenic landscapes, staying active, and experimenting with new culinary creations.

Emily joined the Lewis Eady team in 2025. With four years of experience in administration and graphic design, she brings a unique skill sets to the role. Outside of work, Emily loves playing piano, practicing Pilates, and exploring the outdoors through hiking.
ADITYA MULIK

Aditya is the newest addition to the Lewis Eady team. With a master’s degree in professional accounting from AUT, Aditya has eight years of experience in the accounting sector working for various NZ-based companies. When not in the office, you are likely to find Aditya at the gym, travelling, or enjoying a nice BBQ with friends.
DR IRENA ANGELOVSKA

From 2025, Irena will be responsible for organising and running the concerts at Lewis Eady Music School and will provide administration support to our team.
Irena is a multilingual music teacher with over 12 years of experience in primary, secondary, tertiary and community settings in Macedonia and New Zealand. Beyond music education, Irena brings expertise in mentoring, project management, and fostering inclusive environments. With experience in logistics and administration, she excels in balancing creative and organisational demands, always prioritising clear communication, collaboration, and empowering others to reach their full potential.
